ear George,
Thank you for your response. Wow! I am May Ola's granddaughter, my mother was Alma. Through the years we did not hear much about William except that he was a painter and he lived back east. We knew Ella and Louie and their families. My mother died about 20 years ago, and my father passed away about 2 years ago. In the clearing of the house, there was an old picture on cardboard that was in the give away pile. When I looked closer I could see that it was an original oil painting with W T Yearout 1932. I brought it home and am now having it framed properly. I have never seen this picture before, neither my parents or grandmother never had it out. So, being an artist-type myself (apparently the only one in the family)I take great interest in these things. When I was searching on Ancestry.com, I did see several pictures on William Yearout posted by Francis Yearout, I think. There seems to be one of him painting!!! So, from my sweet grandma to you, I keep learning about this family. I would appreciate any information about this ancestor and who he was.I also found a picture of a maybe middle aged man with two other men. I believe one is holding a guitar and one is holding a mandolin like they are just getting ready to play. On the back it says "Dad playing the mandolin."(I think, it is at my sister's house so I don't have it in front of me). Would this perhaps be William T. and May Ola's father? . Thank you so much,
Judy Bowser
I see you are on Ancestry. If you want I would be glad to invite you to my tree (Grazier Family Tree) so you can see and save several Yearout photos. There is one of your grandmother and her sisters when they were very young. I was going to send it to you but I just signed up for Wikitree and haven't figured out how it works. I'm not even sure how to retrieve messages such as this one. George
Thank you for the information. I have a family history on the Yearouts put together by Ruth O'Dell, who is Ella Yearout White's daughter. It has John Francis Yearout, not Franklin...which name is correct? This is so encouraging to make these family connections. I know my grandmother, May Ola would be loving the fact that I am doing this.  My search started with a forgotten painting I found in my parent's house signed W T Yearout 1932. Thanks agin for your help. Blessings relative!
George, Thank you so much for your help. I, too, do not know how to navigate this wikitree site or Ancestory, and I haven't really allowed myself to register or get very deep into the research as I am a Sixth grade teacher and I have so little time  to respond at this point. However, it seems like the Yearout spirits are calling me to come closer, so I will dive in. I would love to exchange some stories (Mary Ellen Leake lived with my grandmother, May Ola, and my mother, Alma. when my mom was a young girl. She told me curdling stories about her). It is a fasinating history that we are all apart of. I look forward to hearing from you. Take care!

Judy
Hey there,  My mother told me that my daddy's father was named John Francis Yearout, but I have never seen that on a census or in print anywhere else either, so I don't really know.  She said he just didn't like that name, so he went by Franklin instead.  (Her daddy's middle name was Francis, so she liked that name.)  Seems like my daddy disagreed, but maybe it was a well-kept secret.

Franklin is listed on his WW I Draft Card, the Texas Death Index, and on his obituary from the Dallas Morning News newspaper.  So, that's what I list it as.  Who knows, maybe she was right after all!

I have a few stories, I'd love to hear some of yours too.  Both of my grandparents died before I was born.  I never even saw a photo of my grandmother until a couple of years ago!  My heart is also drawn to seek out what information I can before it disappears into thin air.

So did your grandmother marry Vilas Bachtenkircher?  I have her listed at Mrs. Davison from my Grandpa's obituary.

Thanks.  My tree is Yearout-Schneider_Kilpatrick on Ancestry.  I had another tree on there too that was linked, but they said it was getting too big and something messed it up a lot. Nice to hear from you.
Teresa, Thank you for the news. I spoke with my sister last night and we do not remember our Grandmother May Ola hardly speaking about her family. We do wish we had been more conscious and asked these vital questions when they were younger and had their memories. We did get to know Uncle Louie (Louis)  who was an adorable older man when we knew him., quite a character as was our grandmother May Ola. Yes, May Ola was married to Vilus Bachtenkircher. Apparently, her mother (Mary Ellen Leake) forced her to marry Vilus who was a very mean drunk when she was 17. My mother, Alma, would tell us stories about his beating  May (Mary) and his sons. Eventually, she left him when her kids were teenagers. If I remember right, Vilus moved back to Texas and I think was murdered by his girlfriend with a pair of scissors to the heart (payback?). Later, May Ola married George Davidson who was also an alcoholic (do we see a pattern here?) and had a son, Dewain, at the same time her daughter, Alma, was also having a baby. So I have an uncle  who is also about my age. Oh, the stories! Anyway, I am so happy to connect with you!
Hello,  I just noticed your posting on the Yearout family.  My name is Mary Bachtenkircher Lindsted.  Several years ago I talked to your Mother, Alma, on the phone. Alma was my cousin.   I have some pictures of Alma when my Mother and Dad and I, as a little girl, visited in California.  That would have been about 1945 or 1946.   My father was Irvin Bachtenkircher, Vilas' brother, and was Alma, Robert, Lloyd, and Jerry's Uncle.  Sadly the next time I called to talk to Alma,  Max said his 'beautiful Alma had passed away.'  If possible I would love to keep in touch with Alma's family and share any information I can.  You can reach me at "lvdisney2@aol.com."

Thanks,  Mary
