identifying the Real family tree Donor

My daughter did the Ancestry DNA test for both my husband and myself. Neither of us could do the test due to loss of saliva glands. To make things even worse my husband thought it would be nice if my daughter and I shared the same First name. Now I am being identified as the donor. How do I change to the actual donor. I assumed the DNA would be traced back to her that is not the case.

Is your daughter a member of WikiTree? (I see her only as "private daughter".)

If she's not yet a member, please invite her to join (to do so, add her email address to her profile). Once she's a member, either (1) have her enter the DNA test data on her profile or (2) have her add you as a second manager on her profile, so you can add her text to her profile. Then remove the test data from your profile.

Neither of these options is helpful. My daughter is not going to release her email address to a website. Since she is in law enforcement and was hacked once, adding fear for her family. So if she can't become a member she can't add me as a manager. I will do the best I can with what I have. Thank you for your input, sorry it won't work. Suzanne Patton
I know some people who've created an email address on a free service to use on genealogy sites so that they can keep their main email address private. She may have already considered and ruled out that possibility, though.
In this situation, all that's necessary is that there is an email address associated with her profile and that she uses that address once to log in to WikiTree -- and add "mom" as her profile manager before logging out.

An autosomal test with ftDNA is done by cheek swab and easier for people with saliva problems.   Having results for both parents and child on gedmatch allows phasing which can help identify false positive matches.

Thank you for your input. Our daughter is NOT interested in the family tree, she did this favor for me. My husband is dead. My interest is in his family not mine. I will continue to use FTDNA matchs Ancestry and Gedmatch. for tracing his line. Thank you to everyone. I will continue to add what I find to Wikitree.

Suzanne, given the situation, I believe you should remove all DNA testing information from your own profile. WikiTree guidelines are for the person having taken a test to show the test details on their own profile only. Your situation provides an example why: if your primary interest is in your husband's line, having reference to your daughter's test results labeled as your own will actually hinder your investigation. The reason is that the test information will be propagated up tree as if it is your DNA, so it will never align with your husband's biological family, and any of your ancestral lines comparing results with "yours" will be confused and misled because the results will reflect only a random 50% of your DNA, and will include X-chromosome information that is not yours.

The information "anonymous" provided is correct. The DNA test from FTDNA uses epithelial cells swabbed from inside the cheek only. Absolutely zero salivary output is required. On sale for $59 right now.

If both you and your daughter have test data uploaded to GEDmatch, with a few mouse-clicks you can create a phased kit for your husband. This "pseudo-genome" will represent his DNA only, and can then be used in the typical one-to-many and one-to-one matching with the knowledge that your DNA is not being included in the mix; any matches will be strictly on his side of the family. I think this would be a great asset to your search.

Good luck!
