William may have been from Scotland. He had at least two sons; James (1845-1935) and Nelson (b. abt 1855), and two daughters; Eliza Buchanan Milligan (b. 1846) and Mary A Buchanan Stemm (1857-1937).

James and Mary moved to the US in 1883 and died there. I have no info on Nelson or Eliza. Hoping to find decendents and ancestor info.

Hi Tom, your going to need to dig into church records for this time frame. I did find one record.

From https://www.ireland.anglican.org/cmsfiles/pdf/AboutUs/library/AngRecord/DerryloranVol1.pdf

11 Aug 1833 born 26 Jul 1833 William BUCHANAN Andrew/Anne Gortalowry Gunsmith X

If you find any more sources let me know and I'll add it (or you can) to https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Sources-Ireland-Province-County#Tyrone

This can't be the William Buchanan I'm looking for. His son James was born in 1845 so it would have been very unlikely that William would have fathered him at age 12.

The only things that I know for certain about William Buchanan is that he built a house at Corcreevy outside of Fivemiletown for his sons. It was a duplex that shared a common wall. James and his wife Sarah (Quinn) Buchanan lived in it until they outgrew it and moved to Gortmore on the other side of Fivemiletown. When Sarah died in 1882 James, along with his sister Mary, took all of his children and moved to the US. The information that I have is as Jame's kids remembered it.
Hello, I am related to the William Buchanan mentioned above, born 1833, son of Andrew (my 3rd great grandfather) & Anne Buchanan from Gortalowry, Cookstown.

Although I have been able to find the three other children of Andrew & Anne (Joseph 1829-1904, Anne Jane 1835-?, Henrietta 1838-?) and the two children from Andrew's second marriage to Jane (my 2nd great grandfather James Johnson 1841-1922 and Eleanor 1843-?) using the online records from Saint Luran's Parish Church, Derryloran, I haven't been able to find any birth, marriage or death record for Andrew Buchanan.

His son James Johnson Buchanan joined the British Army and was in India when he married my 2nd great grandmother Caroline Fitzgerald (from Kinsale, Cork) in 1873.

I would be grateful for any assistance researching the history of this family.
