Have you looked at death certificates and marriage records to see if they give any indication of where they came from?

You certainly have your work cut out for you, O' surnames seem to be one of the hardest to search!

Marriage Record for Walter O'Hagan

  • Walter O'Hagan, clerk, 35, Roman Catholic, residing in Toronto (in the County of York), son of James O'Hagan, merchant, and Elizabeth Madden; married
  • Mary Ann O'Donohue, 30, Roman Catholic, daughter of Michael O'Donohue, labourer, and Susan O'Donohue (not sure yet if this is her married or maiden name)
  • Married 12 October 1910 in Toronto, Ontario
So with Walter's parents, we can look for Census records:
From the Census records, James was born in Ireland, Elizabeth in Ontario. In true Irish form (I can say this, I'm Irish!!) they had a TON of kids including Walter.

Here is a terrible copy of James' death record in 1896. No parents listed.

James and Elizabeth were married in 1855 in Toronto. No image available.
