Does anyone know the father of Scacebook Watson?

I am helping my mother-in-law with her research and we too have dead ended at Scacebook.  Being he was born in Nansemond, VA (1765ish), I have taken her to the Nansemond Indian Pow Wow, because she insists that she is Indian.  I spoke with Chief Bass and several high officials and that is pretty much a dead end.  The Name Watson was not known to them and we cannot find any other records because allegedly the English burned the court house down, destroying over a hundred years of records.  Has anyone looked at his grave marker to see if that provides any leads?  Marion, SC is a little too far for us.

I've also dead-ended at Nansemond, VA, but your research (especially clearing up all the confusion around his two wives named Sara (Elizabeth) & Sarah (Sally) Cross (and that they were cousins) was a huge help! His son (by Sara E. Cross) Thomas Parker Watson is my 3rd great grandfather, and Thomas' son (ALSO named Scace Book) is my 2nd great grandfather. It's very possible that there is native American blood in the line, my dad always said so anyway. He's also listed as a founding member of the Bear Swamp Baptist Church near Nichols, S.C. May try to get down there and find the grave one day.

Hello.  I too am researching Scacebook Watson.  He was my ancestor.  I have been researching for years on and off trying to find out who his father was also and his first wife Sarah Cross.  If I find out anything I will let you know.  And if you do I would be grateful if you would e-mail and let me know what you found out.

Scacebook's first wife was Sara Elizabeth Cross. This is my ancestor. He also married her cousin, Sarah Sallie Cross, at a later time. The name Scacebook is puzzling to me, especially with all its variations. I'm wondering if maybe he was a criminal who changed his name after immigrating to VA.

Also interesting is his son's name, Thomas Parker Watson. Maybe Thomas Parker was an ancestor?
