Anyone ever used FOIA to get records?

If do what tips can you offer in this process.

Thanks

What type of records are you trying to access?
There are a fairly large number of military records still sealed for various reasons. If you were trying to track down an ancestor's participation in an operation, or military group that you thought might have been involved, getting access to those records, as they pertained to that ancestor might be helpful.

There are some exemptions to FOIA ...

Exemption 6: Information that, if disclosed, would invade another individual's personal privacy.

So FOIA may not necessarily work.

Needed to use the process once for a naturalization record. The results were somewhat disappointing since the copy off of a microfiche I got was almost unreadable.
