Wow, the setting of this photo just takes my breath away! And then I wonder how these two ladies who look like sisters, and possibly even twins--are sitting on what appears to be a comfortable sofa, yet the beautiful misty fog seems to be rolling in just behind them in the branches of some majestic large trees. I wonder if perhaps Frances and Pearl might be outside on a deck that happens to have a sofa--or whether perhaps they actually are indoors, and there is an enormous floor-to-ceiling window just behind. Such architecture might be possible in the 1950s.

I was oh-so-curious about Frances and Pearl, and I see from their WikiTree profile pages that they actually are sisters... with a 15 year age difference! But when they are together, they both seem young again, as sisters do when enjoying each other's company.

They are sitting inside with a very large window behind them. This is at my grandfather Sutherland's ranch house in Sebastopol on Baker Lane. He had an apple orchard out back, but I don't think those are apple trees out the window.

What a wonderful moment this photo captured, and how glorious that your grandfather's ranch house had such a beautiful large window!  I think you're right about those trees in view being something other than apple trees, judging by their leaves and branches that are visible.
