Shared Photo: Arthur Napoleon Larrivée and two unidentified ball players

I just found this little gem. Can't identify the two ball players though. Love the dog I wonder if it was a mascot. 

I wanted to share this family photo of Arthur Laravie with the community. Location: Plattsburgh, New York. Date: unknown.

Sue, I love old pictures and that includes baseball pictures.. What a  handsome trio of men. Now about the picture itself. Everything in the picture shows before 1919. The gloves did not have a webbing (Between the thumb and forefinger) until 1900. The webbing was a full piece of leather in 1900. 1910 they made a 2 inch strap webbing.The hats look closer to 1900 also. The shoes and stirrups are in that general time period. My guess for this picture would be somewhere between 1900 and 1909. This remarkable photo would best be dated by a photography expert or a baseball uniform expert. Thanks for helping me dust off my old baseball "dead ball" era encyclopedia. If you ever find out what year it was taken please let ,me know. Thanks for sharing this remarkable photograph.

Wow! That’s a huge dog (comparing it to the two seated players). And look at those old mitts. Sue, do you know what S. T. J. B. Stands for?

The dog can be a team mascot. A HUGE team mascot LOL Do you know what breed of dog it is? The ST. J.B. could possibly mean something like St John the Baptist. It could mean anything but that is what seems to occur in most of my searches. Don't quote me on it now but just sayin'.

Hahaha! I’ll take that supposition (St. John the Baptist) as definitive. Can’t recognize the breed. Heinz 57 Maybe, or is that Heinz-57? (Tthink he’s got a profile?)

Pip It is Wikitree so it must be Heinz-57. Don't forget the dash or you wont get any profile results.:)   I wish I had a dollar for every time I forgot the dash after the name  and before the number. LOL

Apparently the Saint John the Baptiste Society sponsored a baseball team. I agree, the dog is handsome.

Great Family Treasure .. My French Barbeau and Menard ancestors are also from the Plattsburgh, Clinton, New York area. Some of them stayed and some of them migrated to Wisconsin.
