Trying to set up a Mordah one person project.

+3 votes
I thought I set up a Mordah Surname Project in one name project in categories but it is not on the list of one name projects and when I go to Mordah in search it says I am researching Mordah but no one has set up the project. I must have left my application incomplete. Help

Is this your new project?

Try adding [[Category: One Name Studies]] to the page.

Before you do that, consider whether your project is actually a One Name Study.  It looks as though it would be a project on John Mordah, so NOT a One Name Study, in which case it won't show up on the One Name Study index because it isn't, and you shouldn't really use [[Category:One Name Studies]] if it isn't a One Name Study.

Here is the project page for the One Name Studies Project:
How do I set up a project that tries to gather all the different variations of Mordah, there are many, when the person is in the line of John Murdah, 1670, from Ireland to Pennsylvania?
A One Name Study is allowed three variants (I wish there were more).  So you could call it the Mordah Name Study, and have Murdah as a variant.  In my Haywood Name Study, there are also Heywoods, Haywards, and Heywards etc! I just put the Haywood Name Study category on all of them.  You just 'go with the flow'.

And Claudia, you could always establish a subcategory in the study specific to ancestors and descendants of John Mordah; a lot of studies do that for specific geographic regions where the surname is most common. But, yeah; a one-name study is really a one-surname study, not for an individual person's name. While WikiTree isn't constrained by all of the precepts of the Guild of One-Name Studies, a browse-through there may give you a better idea of what an one-name study is: And of course a visit to the WikiTree One-Name Studies project page will help...besides, there's a nifty video there with Doug Lockwood talking abut the ONS project.  :-)

How can I delete John Mordah Surname Project that was done incorrectly?

You don't delete it.  You merge the incorrect one into the correct one.

So, you would merge Space:John_Mordah_Surname_Project

into Space:Mordah_Name_Study (if you've decided on Mordah)

You can't just rename the John Mordah Surname Project into 'Mordah Name Project', because the URL will remain the same.  You need to create a whole new page - and make sure it's "One Name Study" when you go to "Create New Thing", so it will have the correct categories on it.
