Pet Peeve concerning search results

When a search is performed with a given name and a surname, why isn’t the middle name included in the sort feature? If you get a lot of names with the search, the inability to fully sort the names reduces its utility.

Better yet, how about writing a routine to concatenate the first and and middle name fields, then put the results in the first name field, and eliminate the middle name field?

I agree, George. Another addition would be to have a date field (like Ancestry) to cut down on the list.  If we had middle name and a date field, say the birth year, that would help. No so much a problem with unique names, but it seems most searches, for me anyway, are for fairly common names.

I’ve tried doing what you are saying, if I’m reading you right, first and middle name in the first field, but his doesn’t help much.

No other online genealogy database or program that I know of has a middle name field. They may exist, but i’ve not come across them yet.
