Anyone have knowledge of James Eaton from Fermanagh,Northern Ireland

+4 votes
I am trying to link my line of Eaton's with anyone else's. James Eaton Sr. born mid1700's and married Catherine Willis.Their son James Eaton (1800-1859) married Rachel Nesbitt Biggar (in Ireland or Canada) and had 5 daughters and one son Henry. James Jr. remarried to Sarah Hazelwood in Upper Canada in 1854 and had two sons, William Robert and John Wesley Eaton. John Wesley married Eugenia Sheldon and William Robert married Esther Millions. William had 9 children, John had three.

Does any of this sound familiar?

Hi Richard,

If you want to search Irish records Roots Ireland is a good site to check.

Here is the URL for it.

William Robert is my husband's Grandfather. He has his Great Grandfather James Eaton (1800-1859) as the son of John Eaton and Margaret Craig. Are we talking about the same James Eaton?
answered by

I think it would be quite a coincidence if we weren't talking the same family. The William Robert and James Eaton seem to be a match but I have the generation prior to that as James Eaton and Catherine Willis instead of John Eaton and Margaret Craig. (The Craig family married into the Timothy Eaton family i believe.)

Another coincidence is that my aunt, Reita Eaton, married a Howard Sadler from Manitoba and later moved to Vancouver, BC. Is that your Sadler family?

I also show Irene and Earl Sadler in my family tree.

Irene was my grandfather's sister.

Yes we are related. Irene Eaton is my mother.Your grandmother, Ethel is my aunt. Reita was my cousin, but became my aunt when she married my dads brother, Howard.

Who is your Grandfather?

Obviously I need to do more research on James. Any luck with Irish records?
Reita's mother was Mabel, married to Orville Eaton. Orville and Mabel were my grandparents.

I met your mother and discussed our Eaton heritage shortly before she passed away. She did have a strong sense of our connection to the Timothy Eaton line but other than a geographical nearness in Canada and Ireland I cannot find a strong link. Yet!

We should continue our discussions outside of this forum. I have had some small success with Ireland records.

I can be contacted at rweatonatmtsdotnet. (replace the at with @, and replace the dot with .) Hope that makes sense.
