Looking for info on Joseph (60 on '30 census) and Ida (43 on '30 census) in Brooklyn?

Need information on Joseph and Ida Wiesner from Brooklyn, NY. On the 1930 Census Joseph and Ida lived in Brooklyn, NY. Joseph was 60 and Ida was 43.  They had 3 children, Walter, Frederick and Ruth and were helping to raise a 6 year old girl, Veronica T. Reilly.  I am the granddaughter of Veronica.  My father is her son, Frederick Walter.  I am looking for information about her mother and father and any information about who the father of her son might be so I thought that perhaps those who raised her, the Wieners, would have information that others might not.

I have spent so much money on other websites looking for answers for my father and have found nothing that can be verified so this is my last shot.  Any information will be welcome and appreciated.

Some answers won't be found on web sites-- free or paid. If I were you, I'd be pursuing birth certificates -- Veronica's, her son's. I'd be looking for baptism records. Reilly sounds Irish-- I'd start with Catholic; Wiesner sounds Jewish. I'd look for probate records for the Wiesners; I'd seek death and probate records for Walters in Brooklyn shortly before and after Veronica's estimated birth.

Some of these records might be on microfilm, available through your local LDS family search center. Some might require visiting county clerks or state archives.

Good luck.

Hi CharLee,

I tried familysearch.org for you and the most I could find was that Veronica was also on the 1940 Census at age 16 still with the Weisners:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/KQRD-RH4

Beyond that and trying to plug in Frederick Walter did not help, not sure if she married his father and took the Walter surname?  Also do not know birth dates and location, etc. which sometimes helps.  Maybe you could try the site if you haven't already, it  doesn't cost anything to use.

Since the Weisners have probably all passed at this point, if it were me, I would continue to search out the descendants - maybe you could get to someone through the public records index listings on familysearch.org and maybe try to contact one of the later Weisners through that?

Maybe someone on this site with more experience on how to contact foster and adoption services and records for New York can step in.  So sorry I can't help beyond that.  Good luck with your search.

Hi, thanks...it is so hard and confusing and this is why I am so frustrated...maybe if I gave you what I have you might be able to help.  The biggest problem is there is no paternity information for anyone here and no one would speak of it except to say that Veronica was given to another family to be raised by them.

Anne Reilly born July 1911 in Brooklyn, NY.  She later married Vincent McElroen and died in 1985 in Yuba County, CA.

Anne gave birth to an illegitimate daughter, Veronica Theresa Reilly who was born in December 1923 in Brooklyn, NY.  Veronica was given to Joseph and Ida Wiesner who raised her with their 3 children.

Veronica gave birth to an illegitimate son, Frederick Walter Terkowski on Sept, 11, 1941. Though she did not name the father nor ever tell him the name of his father, she did name him Terkowski and no one knows why or where that name came from so I can only assume that there is a good chance that is his father's name. Anyway, Veronica then married Marion Donald Brewer who adopted Frederick and gave him the name Brewer and he and Veronica had to other children, Pam and Roxy Brewer.  After Donald's death, Veronica married Robert Kehrer and she died on May 20, 1985 in Ontario, Oregon.

While this seems like a lot of information to go on it is actually all a dead end for an amateur like me.  I have run into dead ends everywhere I have turned with this and to be honest it is not only frustrating but also quite intriguing.

If you, or anyone else, can help I welcome  it.
I was going to give you a similar response, but Jillaine has done a better job below.  Birth records may or may not give fathers name, but worth a try definitely.  It would be great if you could connect with the weisner descendants somehow - they might have more clues about Veronica's situation as family secrets but you would have to research the weisners from the census names on down and might not be the path you want to take.  Sorry to not be much help, I am new at this too and have dead ends that frustrate me as well.
Char if you would have asked I have information on Vincent ect and dad knew that I wrote it all down going back a couple generation. When Grandma lived with Idaho and Joseph she is listed as a house occupant in the census that I have found it also lhave a tree on Vincents family Anyways call dad I will give you what I got over the phone.
