Smith brick wall (yeah, I know: Smith)

Brick wall Robert Smith, b. 1815 in Lincoln County, NC; d. 1800 Gaston County (county division, same place).

His father could have been another Robert Smith who has the right dates and place, but with so many Smiths in the area, I’m not so sure. Any help here would be greatly appreciated. (With this surname, I’m not expecting any breakthroughs, but ya never know!)

Yes Smith lines can be a very challenging line to trace.  I'm having my share of trouble with my line out of PA.  At least they didn't tend to marry other common names, like my other great grand parents in PA  Jones who decided to make it hard on me and married another Jones.

After researching over 20 years I've learned one thing. Put the line a side for a bit and work on another and when you pick it back up you will find something.

Good Luck,

Lisa Smith Martin (yes I married another common name LOL)
I saw your post and I thought I could help, but I would need more info. Can you give me who he married, children names, Was his father named Robert Smith?  I am sure I can find him but in order to recognize the one you want I would need a way to identify him as the one.  Did you know if he moved from the area?  Do you know what he did for a living?  I can find maybe 10 or more  Robert Smith's but I don't know which one will be yours?  Thanks and just maybe I can help.
