Location Names

The WikiTree write-up on location names indicates that we follow Google protocol in our location names for various periods in history.

On checking for the Google description for an individual prior to 1776 in Massachusetts, I found:  town, county, Massachusetts Bay, British Colonial America.  I have been using this combination.

I note that the hints provided on the profile creating and editing forms shows only town, county, and Massachusetts Bay - nothing about British Colonial America.  Recently  have experienced people editing my profiles, removing the reference to British Colonial America.

Can I get some clarification here?

There has been a lot of discussion on this, including relatively recently, that British Colonial America wasn’t used in the colonies so shouldn’t be used.
