Can a person find more information about a deceased relative by their SSN?

I have talked too Social Security ,used my brothers number,they gave me

the info i was asking for.But privacy issues could  stop that.

Prior to Jun 2011, the SSN was not randomized and the first three numbers were assigned by location.

See: https://www.ssa.gov/employer/stateweb.htm

So, if the person applied before June 2011 and you have the first three digits, you can tell where they applied from, which probably meant that they lived near there at the time.
