Who is Lewis Washington-236

I've seen many sites on My Heritage that claim a Lewis Washington as an older brother of George Washington-11. His dates indicate he was born while his father was still married to Jane Butler. However, most of these sites claim his mother was Mary Ball. There was a Lewis Washington who was George Washington's grand Nephew. This Lewis was one of the people held by John Brown in his raid on the Federal Armory at Harper's Ferry. These sites usually show a Photograph attributed to this child who died at 11 years of age. This PHOTOGRAPH shows an adult with thinning hair and a moustash. I don't think Photography existed in the 18th century. I'm not saying there was no 11 year old Lewis. I can not find him in any reliable source.

Is, I think, a reliable source. I paged back to the beginning of the book and found no Lewis Washington.

Again, who is Lewis Washington-236? I am the manager for this profile. I can't find any reference to him. Is it possible to delete him? must I change his name to another of Jane Butler's children then merge them to eliminate him? I egerly await your answer.

I think he is a person that has been "created" over the years.   I see him all over the internet, sometimes attached to [[Washington-366|Richard Washington]], or [[Washington-187|John Washington]], along with how he is attached today on Wikitree.   I never see any supporting evidence that he even existed.

While we cannot delete profiles, because he exists in so many family trees, I would just mark up his profile as being "uncertain existence" and disconnect him.   That way, if someone else tries to add him, they will see the notes and understand the research done to date.

@Henry   If you could provide the sources for "other men" named Lewis Washington born in the early 1700s I would appreciate it.   I have looked and looked and cannot find any man born with that name until 1794
