I've started the research work to clean up the profile of John Andrus formerly Andrews with 3 wives and 19 children.  My reference source is TAG vol 35, 1958, pp 55-59, 83-91 where Jacobus states "... make a few important corrections to ..." Genealogical History of John and Mary Andrews by Alfred Andrews.

Jacobus states "John Andrews born England about 1616 died at Farmington, CT shortly before 2 Mar 1681/2" with no parents identified.

I would like to read the source for birth and parents of John Andrus to see if it supercedes the information in Jacobus's article from 1958.  Several of the children currently assigned to John Andrus belong to John Andrews b 1616

3:35 pm update I continued to search and found John Andrews-152 husband of Elizabeth Strickland.  I adopted his profile and will update it with his 9 children.

A search at familysearch.org provides a list of christening records for more than 50 people named John Andrews. There is no information to identify which, if any, of these records belong to the man in the profile John Andrews Sr. (abt. 1616 - 1682). He may well be 1 of the hundreds, thousands of people whose birth records were not saved.
I think you're absolutely right. I spent hours today going around in circles with John and Mary Andrews. There are sooo many of them. Thanks for your comment!
Several years ago I went to London and St Giles in the Field church.  I met the rector and he allowed me to go thru the church records from the 1600s.  I was unable to find the volume that John would have been in,  (later found it had been missing for about a 100 years), then I went thru the earlier volume and was unable to find any records for potential parents.  I searched for William's birth or marriage and was unable to locate any proof. I have to say it was a real treat to handle books that were over 300 years old.
