J. Madison Haney had at least 2 sons, James Mitchell Haney, and Jasper Newton Haney. Something happened to J Madison before 1850. I found civil war pension applications and affidavits that confirmed the 2 were brothers, and orphaned. In the 1850 census in Talladega , Alabama, James Mitchell lived with a "Ellard" family, and Jasper lived with a "Brewer" family. There were probably more siblings, since both households had several children very close in age. James Mitchell is my 3rd great grandfather. Jasper became an attorney, both are believed to be born in Alabama, and both made their way to Texas around 1880. I want to find out more about who J. Madison Haney was, how he died, etc. , and get past my brick wall. Family stories claim that the Haney"s were Irish, but I just cant seem to cross the sea with real facts! My James Mitchell was born in 1837 likely in Alabama, Jasper was born in 1844 in Talladega Al. Unconfirmed info leads me to believe sister Sarah was born in 1846. So theoretically, I believe that J. Madison Died between 1846 and 1850.
