i was just wondering if we really have only 65 genealogical society members in our community. Figured there would be more. (Stats from the Society Badge members page).

With WikiTree's vast community of registered members, there must be thousands who have a membership of a genealogical society - if only 65 badges have been awarded to date then now may be a good time to phase the badge out. In reality, there is no way of policing this and although someone might say they have a membership today, they might not renew it tomorrow.

True, how would anyone keep up with that (dropping memberships)? I’ve got two right now, NC Genealogical and Palatines to America, but I have had others that I dropped for various reasons over the years. It does get expensive and my interests change. Same with clan memberships. I got too busy to attend games for a while, so I dropped my one.

Interesting question, Pip. Seems like there should be a lot more but it may be most people don't know there is a badge for it.

Or aren't interested in having the badge.  :-)
Agreed, some people don’t care about badges.

I would encourage anyone not members of a society to check out the major publications if the bigger, national or state societies to get an idea of very well done genealogies. Lots of libraries have them.
I didn't know there was a badge for belonging to a Genealogical Society - or is it just for US Genealogical Societies?

I belong to the the Sussex Family History society (UK)
The badge just says for being a member of a genealogy society. I would think Sussex Family History Society would count. To get the badge, post here: https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/281835/would-you-like-a-society-member-badge-?

What do you class as a genealogical society? I am a member of 4 Family History Societies in England and Scotland and the Guild of One Name Studies. I see no particular point in having a badge for these memberships.
