Pre-1500 people probably need to be merged Ridel-13 & De_Ridel-10

Question

I’ve been looking into Maud/Matilda de Ridel.

Maud (Ridel) Basset, who is Ridel-13 and Matilda De Ridel, who is De_Ridel-10, are probably the same person. They have the same parents, same birth & death dates. Right now, Matilda is shown as Thurston Basset’s wife (Basset-11) & Richard Basset’s mother (Basset-57). I don’t believe that she is either.

Her name should likely be Maud Matilda (De Ridel) Basset. She should be the wife of Richard Basset (Basset-19) and mother of Sybil (Basset) Caus, Basset-113 & Ralph Basset, Basset-104, etc.

Thanks, Angelique.  I'm on the trusted list for both profiles and I agree with you that they are the same person, so I'm merging them.  

The revised name would not be Matilda Maud or Maud Matilda -- Maud and Matilda are the same name in different languages.  So one person went by both names.  But they were the same name.  

There is currently a spare husband, which i will investigate and fix.  Thanks for calling this to my attention!

The Foundation for Medieval Genealogy website shows Richard Basset, son of Ralph Basset, as being married to a Matilda who’s the daughter of “GEOFFREY Ridel & his wife Geva.” 

Geneajourney.com seems to have teased out this Basset family of England. They also show that “He [Richard] md Maud de Ridel abt 1112, daughter of Sir Geoffrey de Ridel, Lord of Witheringe, and Geva. Maud de Ridel was b abt 1096.”

I don’t have access to any primary sources myself, so I have been researching the best I can online. Many other websites have shown a Maud or Matilda de Ridel as Richard Basset’s wife. There are many other nobles for whom the names Maud and Matilda indicate the same person.

I’m hoping there is someone in WikiTree land who can help verify the information I have been finding.
