Here are some records for him...

"United States Census, 1870," database with images, FamilySearch(https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MFG9-CBQ : 12 April 2016), Leander Goodson, Virginia, United States; citing p. 37, family 246, NARA microfilm publication M593 (Washington D.C.: National Archives and Records Administration, n.d.); FHL microfilm 553,148.

This is his first marriage per a well sourced tree at Family search

"Virginia Marriages, 1785-1940," database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XRM8-4T1 : 11 February 2018), Leander L Goodson and Polly Miller, 14 Jun 1825; citing Wythe, Virginia, reference pg 81; FHL microfilm 34,254.

Take a look at this tree   https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/LCZ7-R3V   It will probably give you some hints.
