Is there a Thodeson family tree available for North America?

My name is Teresa Young - I am Toni (real name is Borghild) Thodeson's niece. I remember being given a hard copy family tree for the Thodeson North American branches (and some ancestry from Norway included). So I have it somewhere! But I'd like to see if I can get this online first if it's already there. Thanks, Teresa Young (maiden name Thodeson) My father was Angus, Toni's brother. Thx.

Hi Teresa,

I'd like to suggest you remove personal information, such as your father's birth date, from your question here. This forum is open to the public and you might not want that information available to just anyone out there.

If you are planning to become a member of WikiTree, you still need to complete your registration process. You need to create your research tags and Volunteer. A WikiTree Greeter will then confirm you as a Family Member and you can begin to add your family tree to our database.

If you need any help, just let me know.

Google information indicates that the "unlisted" wikitree profile:

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Thodeson-1

may be of interest to you, as it appears that the names Toni and Borghild are associated with it. I would suggest you make contact with Janelle Hunter-Seal here on wikitree. Click on "Send Private Message" on her profile:

Yes, thank you I did contact her. She is indeed a relative. Thanks!

Probably the best place to start is a google search for this surname. Include terms like family, family tree, or genealogy.

Go to the major genealogy sites and search for the surname. Some of these sites are subscription sites, some are free. Some of the subscription sites may be available at your public library; some are available for use at an LDS Family History Center.

Get a Family Search account, it is free.

Keep in mind that the quality of internet genealogies is quite variable, regardless of what site they are on. You will need to validate what you find.

There are a number of good books on genealogical research, and specifically on using the internet. You can find these in most bookstores, as well as your public library.

With some luck, you will end up looking at Norwegian records. You don’t need to be fluent in Norwegian, but knowing certain key words is essential. A number of sites will have lists of Norwegian genealogical terms.

There are presently only four Thodesons on WikiTree, so if you end up putting your information here, you will covering new ground.

Best of luck.

This is great advice, thanks George. When I find in my files the hard copy Thodeson family tree that uncle David Thodeson handed me in 1997, I will make sure to add it into wiki tree!
Family Search has a few Thodeson entries for Canada that look like your family.
