I see merge approvals like this frequently

Question

I am going through merges, looking to see if I can complete any.  I come across merges like this all the time.  To me it looks like it would be a match, not a merge, due to some differences.  I never merge them, but, I also never change them to matches.  I also wonder why both sides have approved the merge, which I see frequently also, but they leave it, never actually performing the merge.  Insight please.  Is it ok to remove the merge and change it to a match?  That is what I would like to do before it becomes a problem later down the road.

Another example, this family has two merges waiting to be completed.  (They have both been approved on both sides)  The mothers surnames are different.

The top two are not in any merges now, the Doan/ Doane family have lots of merges but someone has to decide which of the wives had which of his children and the name spelling, as both PM;s are active they may be working on it, I have raised some questions on the profiles to attract their attention.

Thanks Rhian!  Is it ok for me, in the future, to make them matches rather than merges?

An umerged match is good, they are only meant to be a temporary setting while the details are worked out.

I tend to propose such as this as matches, the approval by the PM's should bring them to the merge screen with a warning to check the parents, this is probably where they got to, they should have set them to unmerged matches as now any passing stranger could complete the merge and lose a mother, maybe the wrong one.

Good, that is my own inclination, unmerged match.  I do that too, but usually they are not yet set as a merge.  Thanks!
