I am stumped finding anything about Joseph Baker who married Elizabeth Baldwin

My 4th Great Grandmother Margaretta Baker was the daughter of Joseph Baker and Elizabeth Baldwin. I cannot find anything on the birth or marriage of both parents. I have a tentative death and burial information, but so far I don't have actual docs of their deaths. Margaretta's place of birth is also a mystery to me. I would deeply appreciate any help or suggestions. Their daughter, Debora Baker, has some more documentation of her life, but no birth docs are to be found so far. They had at least one other child, an Abaline Baker who married an Urbane Smith. There are just way too many Bakers out there.

Hi Lori I do not know if this helps because  I cannot down load any documents because Im only on UK Ancestry and all the documents are Quaker in USA.Joseph Baker son of John Baker (1734) and Hannah Pennock (1747) they married 24 June 1767 London Grove, Chester, Pennsylvania. Joseph born West Marlborough, Chester, Pennsylvania. Elizabeth daughter of William and Deborah born Christiana, New Castle, Delaware. I have down loaded grave stone for Joseph if you want it.

Here is an unsourced web page which gives possible data for Joseph and Elizabeth and others in the family, and may give you some hints for further searches.

Also see Findagrave memorials for Joseph Baker and wife Elizabeth Baker, with photos of gravestones. Joseph's age at death in 1837 gives a birth year of circa 1768, which agrees with a birth of Joseph shortly after the marriage of John Baker and Deborah (last name possibly Bennett - see genealogy mentioned in above paragraph.)

See also, in archive.org, the Genealogy of the Hannum Family, the entry for Adam Baldwin, who married Deborah Baker, daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth. The entry gives birth and death dates for both Joseph and Elizabeth.

Naturally, better sourcing should be sought.

Thanks for your response. I have been unable to verify that those are his parents. I think everyone has got this information wrong and like some incorrect data, it spreads like wildfire through the genealogy sites. I also am doubtful about Elizabeth's parentage, too. the reasons are I have found no documentation to support these facts yet. I am hoping someone has the actual documents showing that yes, these are the parents and that is the marriage date. I am pretty sure they lived in Susquehana County because that is where their daughter Maragaretta was married. Where is he buried? I would love to see the marker.

Hello, Family Search shows a Joseph Baker Sr. RIN LCXL-T9X  There are only 2 Sources for Joseph. One sources is Find a Grave which shows a Joseph Baker and wife Elizabeth Buried in South Montrose Cemetery, Susquehanna, PA Joseph has a death date of 10 January 1837 and gravestone says 69 years of Age. Elizabeth has a death date of 2 March 1843 and gravestone says 73 yrs 9 Mo and 19 days of Age. Currently nothing is shown for either Joseph or Elizabeth's Parents.

Thanks David, I got those records. All I have found is that he moved from Chester County in 1821 to Bridgewater Township in Susquehanna County, PA. I still haven't found any birth records for his children or a birth or marriage record for him and Elizabeth. I suspect that he did not originate in PA, but because the Baker Family is extensive it is literally like looking for a needle in a haystack. :)
