Re: William Scott | Scott-1882  1750 - 1835

Born in Robeson, North Carolina and died in White county, Tennessee.

Wondered if anyone had knowledge of a Scott clan in or near Robeson, NC, that this William may be connected to?

Hi Steve =) I think I told you in an email we are 9th cousins once removed through our Scott line. My Great Grandmother Scott was born in VA, but her family is from around that area in North Carolina. William Scott is my 2nd cousin 7xs removed I believe.
Shan,

Any Scott's with a Robeson NC / Bedford VA connection?  Or maybe Robeson NC / Davidson TN?  Or Robeson NC / White TN?  Thanks.
Shan,

I can't remember if I acknowledged your note about being 9th cousins by email or otherwise.  A collaboration process was started on William & Lucy James Scott and their descendants in early June, which is intended to identify as many relationships and as much information as either doubtful, possible or probable, in this line.  Expectations are not high for finding primary sources to support proof, but we are making headway.  Therefore, I would say that 9th cousins is tentative, at best.  Stay tuned and please take some time to search for primary sources and contribute as much as you can, in the research sections.

Thanks, Jillaine.  Please point me toward the profiles of your William Scott and Emory Scott.  I would like to compare this William and see if he belongs with them.

If this Line is Correct without Errors, The Ancestry of this William goes back to the Scott's of Harden.
I will assist in checking and Sourcing this line in my own time. William is a Common First name in my line that descends from the Scott's of Scott's Hall. See the bottom Paragraph of page 12 of Memorials of the Family of Scott of Scott's Hall in the Countie of Kent with appendix of illustrative Documents.

Al,
Your message started out with "if" and I think that is a really big "IF" in this Scott Family. The Scott problems may not be as big as they are for Smith or Jones, but I haven't worked on those surnames to really know. There are so many Scott's I fear that it is too easy for newbies to just pick the nearest available Scott by date, or whatever, and slap on another generation. I am beginning to doubt all my lower generations born after 1800, but doubting the ones before 1800 more so.  My questions regarding Scott's in North Carolina is mainly to determine if there is a connection to mine in Bedford county, VA, and if not to better differentiate them.

I mean no disrespect to your tree or your level of expertise, and if you have a higher level of confidence than I have, then I am willing to listen. I hope my ideas and discussions have left the impression that I am taking a questioning and serious approach in this collaborative process which I am limiting to William Scott, d.1794, wife of Lucy and their children, for now. Many candidates for this William's parents have been suggested and some believe that the correct ones have not been found. I will get to parents of William later. Your contributions are welcome and will be useful at future time.
Please stay in touch.

I've traced my Scott Lineage from Louisiana and Texas back to Georgia.  I have found that this line resided in North Carolina before moving to Georgia, though I loose the trail once every time I search for info in NC.

Abraham Scott b. 1870 in North Carolina, last known whereabouts 1850 in Stewart Co, GA.  His neighbor and son moved to Louisiana in 1850, but there is no record of Abraham ever joining him or arriving in Louisiana.  Mother is Sarah Scott; wife Mary.
