Can someone tell me what I found?  Concerning Smith-145026

I wanted to share this family photo of Henry Smith with the community. Location: Newburyport, Massachusetts . Date: 24 Dec 1776.

Somebody being a pirate! Looks like the British caught him probably during the revolution attacking British ships

looks like he was a pirate and was caught and put in the brig (jail)

Thank you Susie for sharing this document with us.Most interesting, It shows that Henry was detained in 1776 aboard the vessel U.S. Brig. Dalton and was taken to Old Mill Prison, England and committed in 1777.

It does not show what the charges brought against him were or for how long he was imprisoned. Perhaps further research would reveal more detail in this regard. An awesome find indeed.

There's a big problem with this. The Henry Smith that this is attached to was born no earlier than 1796 in Georgia. It wouldhave been physically impossible for him to be involved in the Revolutionary War in any way. Sorry...
