im not sure where samuel born 1747 was born ,he had william who started hardin co tn family ,william was born 1793 in nc

If I understand, Samuel b. 1747 had son William in NC/1793. William left NC and went to TN when he started his family.

Did you locate a Samuel Stricklin in NC in the 1790 census? He was probably there at that time since his son was born there. If you can find that, then you might be able to find out more from local sources.
