Being new here and from the UK l feel sort of left out a bit as most topics and conversations ( other than cross pond research ) are US related. Is there or can there be a UK only chat section as so many UK place names are common with the US it would help cut down on non relevent answers to questions and also help with local research. I am sorry if this or similer allready exists. Thanks for your time and all your effort in making this project work.

HI Larry,

Welcome to Wikitree! If you have any questions feel free to come back to the g2g as there plenty of genealogist willing to help you. Also feel free to partake in the conversations.
Welcome, Larry!
Thanks Sreve
Thanks Jim.
Gotta agree with Steve. This is a great place to ask questions, and no question is a dumb one. You’ll find a community ready and willing to help, even if they (we) can’t find all the answers.

You’ll be surprised at how many folks here “across the pond” know UK sources and such, so don’t try to limit your q’s. We’re building One Tree and you’re tree is an important part of that.

Glad to have you aboard, Larry. I wish you success!
As previously posted by our lovely Pip, lots of people born in the "colonies" have relatives "across the pond." We're all one big happy family.

Welcome Cousin!!!
Thank you Pip
Thank you Betty, glad to be joining the family.
Welcome, Larry!  So glad you introduced yourself. I see that others have already given you great advice about projects that are on your side of the pond.  We are just one really big family.  Each of us have strengths and weaknesses but combined, we're a mighty community.  As Betty said, there are a lot of us with roots not in the US.  My grandmother came from Oldbury in 1922, so some of my English roots are pretty recent.

Glad you're here!

Hello, Larry!  I'm so glad you took a moment to introduce yourself, and so very delighted to see you're from the U.K. and interested in joining in U.K.-related WikiTree discussions, which I've seen there is a great deal of interest in here!

There is a United Kingdom project at WikiTree that is a 'top level' project encompassing sub-projects for England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales as well as some Crown dependencies, if you're interested--and this top-level project serves as a central directory for all that is happening in its various sub-levels.   You can find this U.K. Project at WikiTree here:

WikiTree Project:  United Kingdom
https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:United_Kingdom

And I like your suggestion that it might be nice some day to have sub-groups for specific conversations like G2G for various project areas. To make sure this suggestion is seen by the right folks at WikiTree, I suggest you edit your question here to include a tag at the bottom for "improvements" "g2g" and "tools" just to make sure you're covering all the bases, and all our best technical wizards at WikiTree will see your query and give it some thought.

Hi Larry,

I'm in north west england, near Liverpool. Some great advice already given but just to say if you united_kingdom to your tags your feed will show posts tagged England, Scotland and Wales. I'm part of the project and its very rewarding! You'll also be amazed at the amount of posts you can help with, so many Americans trace their descendants back here but don't have the access we do to some records (especially parish records) also local knowledge of our strange English ways ;-)

Welcome on board!
