Grottkau in Upper Silesia, Prussia, Germany, now, Grodkow, Opole Voivodeship, Poland.

Silesia is known in German as Schlesien and Prussia is known as Preussen.  Silesia has changed hands over the years, most recently in 1945, when it became part of Poland.

Thank you...germany districts can be confusing!

Too right!  The borders have moved many times.  If you ever come across East Prussia (Ostpreussen), capital Königsberg, you will find it is now known as Kaliningrad, part of Russia.

Grottkau is South East of BRESLAU, the the Capital of Silesia. Big part of my family comes from there.
