Problem with default merger approval for dateless Public profiles

Hi folks. My understanding is that the Unresponsive Profile Manager Requests are not  intended for merge proposals,  as after 30 days of not hearing  back there is default approval. OK. So far so good.

My problem is that two profiles, whose subjects had actual birthdates in 1830 and 1840 respectively but no dates of any kind were entered, were initially set by their manager as Public. When the new privacy policy was ushered in, due to the absence of dates, these Public profiles were not converted to Open. They stayed Public, despite birthdates more than 150 years ago. Then the manager left WikiTree and has not been active since early 2017. The result is that the computer algorithms are treating these dateless but Public profiles as “modern” and therefore the default merger approval that should kick in is not kicking in, supposedly to respect privacy needs that don't really exist. I try to do the merge and get told to contact the manager. But as I said, he's gone.

Over the last several months, in addition to the merge proposals, I have dutifully also left trusted list requests, sent private messages, posted on the pages in question, and posted on the manager's public page. All to no avail. Should I now file the Unresponsive Profile Manager Request? Or seek different help from a leader of some sort or other?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

PS The profiles in question are Findley-246 and Anderson-3441

Yes, please submit the Unresponsive Profile Manager form.  You have done the Trusted List request, the public message, the private message, and now it is time for the form.  In fact, you could have submitted it months ago, from what you have said.

I agree that the Unresponsive Profile Manager is the way to go at this point. If you hadn't already made the contact attempts that the UPM process requires, then I'd suggest that you file an Open Profile Request through the link on the Family Tree and Tools tab, giving your sources for the birth date. But in this case it wouldn't open the profiles much quicker.
