Boyer, Ancestral Lines 206 does not give the English ancestry of John Mott.
Some of what it says:
"The earliest generations of this family fave been dealt with effectively in Austin's Genealogical Dictionary of Rhode Islad, with additions and corrections by Moriarty. Adam2 Mott, below, has been confused with Adam Mott of Long Island (see TAG 35:107)."
Starts with: 1. John1 Mott, born possibly in the village of Saffron Walden, Essex, England, about 1570, died no doubt in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, shortly after 3 July 1656..."
"His wife has not been identified. The parish records of Saffron Walden, contain entries for the burial of Elizabeth, wife of John Mott 2 Jan. 1610/1, burial of Catherine, wife of John Mott. 4 May 1619, burial of Ann, daughter of John Mott, 2 Jan. 1616/7, and baptism of Esther, daughter of John and Mary Mott, 29 September 1625. his son Adam had a wife Elizabeth but this is a common name."
So no English ancestry given. No evidence given as to why the New England immigrant is thought to the same as John Mott of Saffron Walden. Everything else pertains to life and records in Rhode Island.
