A note on the profile of Adam Mott says : The English ancestry and biography of Adam Mott was provided in the book "Ancestral Lines, Third Edition" compiled by Carl Boyer 3rd, published by the compiler in Santa Clarita, California in 1998.

Adam Mott's father was John Mott (also a New England immigrant.) I looked at the source listed for John's pedigree and was unsatisfied that a case was proven with the data I had or that was provided, and was going to remove them. Then I read that note.

I need confirmation that what we have is right or wrong. Would someone take a look for me

Thank you.

There's a copy in the State Library in San Fransisco, I can go look next time I'm in the area if no one else has already answered before then.

Thank you Chris, If I get no more immediate answers I will take you up on that.
Looks like I'll be able to do that Friday of next week, 20th July.
Thank you Chris, It's very generous of you to spend a little time looking for me.
I only do it for the really nice people ;)
Hi Chris, You are off the hook, see the next answer. Evidently he's not in there. I am not surprised.
Thank you, for offering to look. You are obviously a nice person also
Well, after all that mutual-niceness I'm somewhat disappointed that there was no happy ending.

Boyer, Ancestral Lines 206 does not give the English ancestry of John Mott.

Some of what it says:

"The earliest generations of this family fave been dealt with effectively in Austin's Genealogical Dictionary of Rhode Islad, with additions and corrections by Moriarty.  Adam2 Mott, below, has been confused with Adam Mott of Long Island (see TAG 35:107)."

Starts with: 1. John1 Mott, born possibly in the village of Saffron Walden, Essex, England, about 1570, died no doubt in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, shortly after 3 July 1656..."

"His wife has not been identified.  The parish records of Saffron Walden, contain entries for the burial of Elizabeth, wife of John Mott 2 Jan. 1610/1, burial of Catherine, wife of John Mott. 4 May 1619, burial of Ann, daughter of John Mott, 2 Jan. 1616/7, and baptism of Esther, daughter of John and Mary Mott, 29 September 1625.  his son Adam had a wife Elizabeth but this is a common name."

So no English ancestry given.  No evidence given as to why the New England immigrant is thought to the same as John Mott of Saffron Walden.  Everything else pertains to life and records in Rhode Island.

Thank you Joe. So the Ancestry is just what we have already and I can ignore the comment about Ancestral Lines.
That's correct Anne.
