Three children of Aella of Deira?

Looking at the profile of Aella of Deira, I noticed that the bio lists three children, but only two are credited under children at the top of the profile. Does Acha, a daughter with a marriage in Aella’s bio, need to be added, or are there no sources for her? I’m not pre-1500 certified (nor qualified to be).

It is the biography which is primary and the biography where children should be "credited."  The data field at the top is derived from the sourced biography (if information in the data field is not backed up by sourced information in the biography, then it is essentially fiction), and it is also derived from other profiles that are linked.  

When Acha has a profile, then she would show up, linked to Aella, in the data field.  Will Acha ever get a profile?  That depends on whether anyone with pre-1500 certification feels it is important to give her her own profile.  While people like me are trying, over time, to add what information we can to these very early profiles created when our standards were looser, standards are much tighter now and it should only be done with very solid evidence about the person -- much more solid than required to mention the person in a bio.  

I apparently created Aella's profile some months ago, and would only have done it if it was needed to make sense of some other profiles that already existed.  Generally with these very early profiles, there is so much to do to add biographical information sources to profiles that are already that the motivation to create new profiles is low!

I see what you mean, Jack. I didn’t look at it that way. Acha does have a Wikipedia article with children listed, but medieval sources are beyond me. My degree in history didn’t cover that era!

I do what I can with the early profiles out of a love and fascination for history -- my earliest degree.  But the other motivation for genealogy -- "could I sometime be descended from these people?" is largely missing because as some have said, it's virtually impossible to prove descent from people who lived before the time of Charlemagne.  

There are plenty of descents around, of course, but they generally don't hold up under scrutiny -- and good genealogy has to be about scrutiny!

But get your pre-1500 certification and come join this effort.  You do learn things.

Thanks for the invite, a Jack, but I am really behind the curve when it comes to pre-1500s certification. I would love to help with that, what with my history background, but genealogicallay speaking, I think I’d be lost. I’m not familiar with the sources, though many of them are available online, and I’ve read the struggles you folks have had, whether to trust a source or not, choosing between differing accounts, etc. I am really amazed at the patience and hard work all of you out into getting it right. I think I’d better wait on that one. I’d love to, and I would learn a lot, but I expect I would still be reading y’all’s posts (can you tell I’m from the South?!) a year from now and still not contributing much.

An aside, any connection of your Maryland Days to mine in Virginia? They’re in my Shepherd line in the early 1700s.
