Does Anyone Else Have Their Own Notable Family Page?

Hello darlings!

I recently developed a fascination with logging the "notable" members of my family line, using the Relationship Finder. I find it so incredibly interesting to see what kinds of contributions my relatives have made to our current society, and I began logging these members on a Free-Space Page (which I've linked below). I was curious as to whether other people did this as well, so I thought I'd put out a bit of a call.

Do you (or another genealogist you know) keep a list of these? If so, why did you start? Have you made any surprising discoveries?

Can't get to the page.  It says it might have moved, or there is a typo in the URL.

You know, I haven’t though about doing this, but you given me the nudge. I’m going to check it out. Thanks!

And nicely done, too. Your free-space page.
No problem! It gets very addicting haha. Thank you, Pip!

I used to have this information on my profile page, but found that the list was getting a bit long and therefore decided to place it on a couple free-space pages.  One of the pages is strictly for notable family, and the other is for interesting New France ancestors, who were "notable" mostly for their part in the founding of the colony (e.g. filles du roi).  Links below:

That's awesome, Greg! I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who finds this interesting :) I also used to have mine on my profile, until my profile was more list and less biography. -A
Hey, Greg.

I'm trying to see how I can get the filles du roi on my page. I have uhh....over sixty.

A connection to Celine Dion?! Careful, man. Deadpool'll be after ya.

My profile biography is exactly this!  I have made categories of notable people on my profile, with the relationship to me and common ancestor.  That way, I can tell when two notable people who are not commonly associated with each other, or you would even think of comparing to each other, might be close cousins.

I have also made lists of state governors, most with no connections, just as a placeholder to eventually and slowly connect them to the tree, and also to me.  It gives me a random part of the global tree to explore for each governor. :)

My profile biography used to be public so people could see it but I have made it private recently, as it caused some WikiTree account members to harass me over it because I'm comparing myself to celebrities and politicians, or something.  Not a fun experience, so I'm just keeping all my findings to myself now.

I'm sorry you experienced that! I (obviously) understand the interest in the topic, and I do think that that's quite an unfair assumption to make. Good luck on the state govenors connections! -A

I like how you organised yours! Very clever! I might consider adopting the practice, haha. -A
The Force is indeed strong with this one.

I love this idea! I don’t have notable family members (yet) but I am working on a list of notables who attended my Alma mater so this is a great idea!

Thank you! Good luck on your list as well smiley

Very nice Amy. I really like how you organized  your page.  I have a strong interest in notables too because I like seeing how my family history connects to people and events in our past. I keep  my notables on my main profile page. At some point I probably should create a Free-Space Page for them. I am cautious about using Relationship To Me or Relationship Finder because it is only accurate if the profiles are well-sourced and documented.

Thank you, James! I agree with the reliability issue, but at the end of the day I came to the conclusion that I can continuously edit the page, so if a closer relation is added or they're disconnected from our shared ancestor, I can edit the information I display.

One good thing with the relationship finder is that, in the case of cousins, the large majority of mine are cousins which I share multiple ancestors with (I think one of them shared over 100 ancestors with me), so I know that even if one ancestor is incorrect, we are still connected. Of course this depends on which ancestor is incorrect, but hopefully you know what I mean!

Good luck! -A

Nice work, Amy. I'm working on mine:

It's not much, but, it's getting there. I don't know how I am going to fit the 60 plus filles du roi. Any suggestion would be helpful. Perhaps I can highlight ten of them?

Unfortunately, I have found no blood notables in my tree as of yet, they are all by marriage and mostly through my wife's tree. I am still looking and adding family. perhaps one day I will see a notable pop-up.
