Only thing I can find is an 1850 Federal Census Record

Name: Mccarrol Griffin
Age: 40
Birth Year: abt 1810
Birthplace: North Carolina
Home in 1850: District 9, McNairy, Tennessee, USA
Gender: Male
Family Number: 1803
Household Members:
Name Age
Mccarrol Griffin 40
Ann Griffin 19
Andy Griffin 17
William Griffin 15
Marion Griffin 13
George Griffin 12
Jane Griffin 11
Frances Griffin 9
Elizabeth Griffin 6
Rebecca Sanders 22

If you move forward 20 years you have the 1870 Census

Name: Mccurd Griffin
Age in 1870: 60
Birth Year: abt 1810
Birthplace: North Carolina
Dwelling Number: 75
Home in 1870: Village, Jackson, Arkansas
Race: White
Gender: Male
Occupation: Farm Laborer
Inferred Children: Anna M Griffin
Household Members:
Name Age
Mccurd Griffin 60
Anna M Griffin 38

Anna on the 1870 Census appears to be Ann on the 1850 Census

I looked back at the 1820 Federal Census for North Carolina

Only 2 Male names that start with M for Griffin Surname appear to be Moses and Matthew however they could have moved out of North Carolina by 1820

As with any census record they was only as good as the census taker or the integrity of the person giving the information. I'd reckon there was a few who gave incorrect information

Ann Griffin

Born: 4 Aug 1830

Died: 22 Feb 1924

See: Find A Grave Memorial 16882445

George Griffin

Born: 2 Jan 1838

Died: 27 Nov 1900

See: Find A Grave Memorial 13355123

I cannot guarantee the information posted here is for the same family although a possibility.

The information is correct George is my great grandfather. We have only been able to go as far back as McCarrol.I am beginning to think there may have been a name change.

He also has a FamilySearch profile that you can use to source his Wikitree profile.

Hi, Sharon, and and if I havent already welcomed you: Welcome to WikiTree.

That's is a very unusual first name, so it should have made it easier to search for, but I came up empty handed. Is there any more information you can give? Wife? Children?

son Andrew is listed as being born in Mississippi, ,  He was first born son, so possible he was named after his grandfather.  Looking at ages on 1850, I think Ann is a daughter ,not wife,  She could not have children the almost same age as her, unless she is 2nd wife,  Just a thought.

According to FamilySearch, his father's name was Henry Alexander Griffin, and his mother was Nancy Ann Rutherford. But, I don't see any proof of those relationships.

The same relationship exists on Ancestry but again, there is no evidence in the sources of that. He was supposedly born in Caswell County, NC. Perhaps this will help.
