departed from Yarmouth, not from there

Info from several unrelated early family trees show he was a tailor from Hartford, England. also as a side note it appears the Pontefract father of John's name is Will so this is probably not where he is from as well.

Haven't seen "John Dane's Narrative", but the extract given looks fake to me.

This all looks like the usual random assemblage of anybody in England with the same name.

Did the immigrant really marry a Greenleaf?  It was a rare and localized name in England.  But there seems to be some confusion with Greenfield (which suggests there's also confusion with the other immigrant).

There are baptism dates for two of the immigrant's kids.  One is at Ipswich and the other at "Yarmouth, Suffolkshire", which presumably means Norfolk.  But not the same place as Yarmouth IOW.

Are they real baptisms, and do they relate to known immigrants?

Are the immigrant's siblings known to be siblings?

Did the immigrant really emigrate in 1637?  Nothing seems to be heard of him before the 1650s.
Agree with Mr Horace that no-one born in the Isle of Wight lives in Hertford and Pontefract and baptizes his kids at Ipswich. It's just a nonsense mish-mash of several individuals with similar names.

First---NEITHER OF THESE MEN SAILED FROM THE ISLE OF WIGHT.

There are two ports in England called “Yarmouth.”  One is Great Yarmouth which serves Norwich in Norfolk County, England.  The other is just Yarmouth which serves the Isle of Wight.  The following item does not distinguish between the two, but a careful researcher would be clued in by people in the citation being “of Norwich” and by looking at the source.  The source is:

Charles Boardman Jewson, Transcript of Three Registers of Passengers from Great Yarmouth to Holland and New England 1637-1639 (Clearfield Company/Genealogical Publishing Co.; Facsimile Reprint Edition (January 1, 1990) [The original published London, 1954]
