This is the reference causing the error and as soon as it is removed save works properly:

<ref name="c1830">"United States Census, 1830," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XHPM-LR6 : 7 September 2017), George Helm, Fentress, Tennessee, United States; citing 12, NARA microfilm publication M19, (Washington D.C.: National Archives and Records Administration, n.d.), roll 176; FHL microfilm 24,534.</ref>

'''FOUND PROBLEM IN <ref name=" c1840"/>  there was an extra space, worked in preview but not on save'''

Are you trying to use that source 2 times because I see it on the profile if using second time you would just do <ref name= "c1830"/>
Did that for all the census data.  Are you saying all quotes inside the <ref> </ref> have to be removed
I'm not sure where the error is I'm on cellphone so I attempting to look throughout the profile without messing it up.
What I might suggest is making sure you use <ref name="example"> source here </ref> than for second time just use <ref name="example"/> some places when your naming your source for the repeats your forgetting the ""
That is how I was doing it.  I have references for several censuses in there and I don't see any duplication and I am following the <ref name=XX/> guidelines.
Tried that no success.  I'm sure I'm doing something that I'm missing.
solved see comment in question
Really hard to spot!
