How are the connections in Find A Connection worked out

I am curious how the Find A Conection  is worked out . With my connection s it always seems to go through one canadian family - even if the  two connecting point are here in the UK . Was that part of the family just really well connected and it defaults to that or does the way it is set up always try and find rhe connections via North America? I've began to zone out the connections now when I see that particular 5 times great uncle popping og for the umptenth time.

Just curious

That particular family just happenes to have the SHORTEST connections between you and the person at the other end.

As one example, my connection to Queen Elizabeth 2 used to always go through my 3rd cousin. Now that this connection has been changed to Queen Victoria, my connection always goes through my brother-in-laws family. Anyone else who has close connections to the European royal families will also go through my brother in law as well.

Another example is in North America. I personally do not have any American ancestry or connections. So pretty much all American connections to me will be through my husband because pretty much all Americans have some french canadian ancestry or connection and my husband is 100% french canadian!!
