Shared Photo: Adaline Hutton McIntire's Quilt with her name on it.

Question

I want to share with others that are interested the “1845 Signature Quilt”  that my great great grandmother was given by her family when she married and left Pennsylvania. She and her husband, John D. McIntire, moved to Illinois. I have used this quilt as one way to document her family. I love the way Wikitree is set up to allow me to have her family correct, as it is not correct on trees on other sights and has been put on without any documentation.      Thanks, Alexis

Hi Alexis, thank you for sharing this amazing photo of the family Quilt, a truly wonderful treasure, and the fact that it has found it's way down family lines also that it has personal information inscribed in it that encouraged you to to document her family! Truly wonderful, also you are correct, Wikkitree do there absolute best to make sure everything is correct and sourced. Tell her to sign them, as they very likely will be a treasure to someone in the future.

Some of our quilt guild members have some very attractive labels that
are preprinted that can be sewn onto the quilts. Then the background is not a deterrent.   Maybe a seasoned
quilter that has access to computer printing can tell you how to make or buy some for your mother.

Ow that really a good idea. Mom has made so many quilts, large and small, table runners, etc. It would be a shame for folks down the lines years from now to not who made them. Some were especially made for events, like the birth of a great-great- niece. Thanks, Beulah!

If you know how, they print the information on material.  I don't know the process but have seen some very attractive ones in the quilt guild activities.
Some appear to be commercial products
