What is the protocol when you find duplicate profiles?

While working through my GEDCOMpare, I've found numerous duplicate profiles. In a couple of them that have profile managers, I messaged them but got no reply. What do I do?

At the bottom of the profile there is an [initiate a merge] button to merge the two profiles.

Hi Lisa, you have proposed a merge, then you have to allow the PM time to respond to your proposition, if I'm not mistaken it is 30 days after which you can follow the unresponsive PM request in the help menu. Not everyone is online 24/7 and therefore time needs to be given for a response, also you should make sure you have good sources available in order to request the merge or the PM may reject it.

while waiting I like to look carefully at the other profile to see if there is valid information that I did not have - even mistakes usually have a grain of truth somewhere - I check the children and the siblings and the parents and see who else will need to be merged in that family, if anyone - lots of time there will be a whole batch
