Question

Would it be helpful if the Category Page had an auto-populated listing of the top 10, or 20, or 50 categories used.  It could update monthly and might be a helpful addition for new users.  -Mags

Looking at this list, though, I can see a few categories that either shouldn't exist at all, or should be split up into smaller subcategories. So just because a category is being used a lot doesn't mean it should be!

I love that idea. As it stands now, Wikitree categorizations have a primitive feel.

I'd like a page with all of the categories sorted....Sometimes I'd like to see if a category already exists, and I don't want to add a variant name.

Also to see if there is a more detailed category.

Out of the thousands of categories I don't see how we could choose just 50.  And I think searching and longer list would be too cumbersome

Auto-populated by the site.  Like the list of people who contribute, it would be based on how many times a category is posted on profiles or new categories being created..  The list could be updated monthly.

If we had such a feed... wouldn't it assist category creation?  Could it be compared to focus groups?  I think it should be put on the "wish list" for improvements!
