I will have to google the "Sons of Perseverance" and see what it says about it. It could very well be apart of the Freemasons. I am not sure.
Thank you so much for that offer, but I actually wrote to a Lodge in Sydney. When I made the post, above, I had not heard back from them, but have since.
According to the responder, the "Sons Of Perseverance Lodge, No. 1054" is not a Masonic Lodge, but more likely an ODDFELLOWS one. The other query I placed with them was confirmed a Masonic lodge member, so I have stickered his profile. :)
I've been trying to break through a brickwall with my one 3X great-grandfather, so have been trying anything I could think of; and, even though the funeral notice may not be him, it makes the most sense at this time. Hence the querying here and elsewhere. (His one son-in-law being a member of a Masonic Lodge, my brain wants to make the links in a pattern.)
Oddfellows makes as much sense, or even more, than Masonic, being that there were Oddfellows Lodges in northern England and in Scotland who favoured the House of Stuart (admittedly, before my guy's time, but the brain, it likes to make connections and patterns), so my next step in trying to verify or otherwise would be to track down an Oddfellows Lodge and query them.
