Trump Aide Stephen Miller, Meet Your Great-Grandfather, Who Flunked His Naturalization Test

This interesting article came up in my feed today, about a group called Resistance Genealogy.

Believing that the past is prologue, they search online archives for nuggets about the ancestors of public figures and politicians who disparage today’s immigrants. They use tools they developed as a personal hobby to make the point that people like Miller are holding newcomers to a standard that their own forebears could not meet.

That's really interesting. Thanks for sharing.

What a great way to subtly call out those who would deny others the same rights to enter this country.

I've often thought "What if the Native Americans, South American Natives demanded the same qualifications to enter their countries?"
Interesting...but I'm not sure this should be included as a value-neutral comment on G2G. Let's respect the divergent beliefs of our cousins within the WikiTree community. Please.
I find it informative.

Genealogy should not be used as a political weapon. I know if I mention something that even hints at politics, people lose their mind. Now you are actively wanting to use it to target people. I think this is BLATANTLY ignoring the pledge.

I vote end it.

Aaron G's post does not violate the WikiTree Honor Code. I suspect that you may be mis-rememberhing what it says, so I'll link it here for reference (since we do like to cite the sources of our assertions)!

IV. We know misunderstandings are inevitable. We try to minimize them by being courteous to everyone, even those who don't act accordingly.

Categorizing an ancestor for political purposes is the opposite of being courteous to everyone. You are subject to a Member Incident Report (MIR) and being banned/blocked for repeat offenses. If you want to bash others for political purposes, go somewhere else.

I am sorry but this type of message does not belong on Wikitree.  This is not in alignment with our Honor Code, and I personally see it as Adult Bullying.

What message?
I can't speak for Robin maybe she meant post instead of message.  No disrespect intended Aaron but the message that I got from the article you linked was that Genealogy can be a weapon used for political purposes. Right or wrong? I don't know but I don't think that this is the place for politics. Just my  opinion.
I really didn't mean any sort of political message. I just thought it was an interesting connection to genealogy.
