Carter in Australia

I'm trying to find relatives in Australia, mainly Wingham NSW with the surname of CARTER,or WORTH

I found my father's marriage certificate online NSW  Reg number 7352/1963 with the surname of CARTER, but I also found another one with reg number 7352/1963 and the surname on that was WORTH. I'm trying to find out who his parents were. Any help greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you haven't ordered the marriage certificate. You should definitely obtain it as it will have extra useful information.

With the two surnames, I've come across something similar before. The man's mother had remarried when he was an infant and he had always used his stepfathers surname even as an adult, but it wasn't legally his name so ended up being recorded under both names.

Maxwell John Worth .Born 1 January 1943 in NSW or Maxwell John Carter

Pretty sure he lived in Wingham NSW. . HE married Brenda Joan Sedgman

In 1963. I get the same reg number  7352/1963 for both names Carter and Worth. I have no other info about him.

Hello Tracie,

The Manning / Wallamba FHS which covers Wingham NSW does not have any mention of a Maxwell Carter or Maxwell Worth in our family database.

I can only add to the advice to order the marriage certificate.

Rather than the slow Births Deaths & Marriages, it is much quicker & cheaper to pay a Transcriber as the Turtles  http://home.iprimus.com.au/lturtle/ for a copy pointing out your problem.

Regards

Graeme
