I'm curious as to what became of young William B. Houston, who is found living in the household of septuagenarian John Houston and John's 40-year-old maiden daughter, Charity, in 1860 Smith co. MS on the census that year. The entire Houston clan had moved to Mississippi from Robeson county, NC, and indeed, William's birthplace is listed as NC.
It's not entirely obvious how he fits into the family. He does not appear to be a son of any of John Houston's sons, so I'm presuming that he was born out-of-wedlock to Charity. I can't seem to find him on the 1870 census.
