How do you get a related surname added to a surname page?

Hi All,

Specifically, I'm looking at the Rodewald surname list here:

Up at the top is "Related surnames". I need to have the related surname "Rodenwold" added to the list. And yes, I just recently added profiles with this new surname, and they are actually related by a spelling variation over time.

If someone with sufficient permissions could do this, or either point me in the direction on how to do this, I would be grateful.

Hi Ellen,

Thanks for pointing out those previous discussions. However, going to the Help:Variant Names Project page shows that the method for adding to variant names is no longer active:

"A warning, however: A number of WikiTree members have been disappointed in the difficulty of successfully editing the database and seeing the results back on WikiTree. The Variant Names Project is no longer in an active development by Dallan and updates are infrequent. -- Whitten-1 12:51, 9 June 2016 (EDT)"

So, it looks like my question still stands. How does WikiTree do additions of related surnames now? Do they still do it this way? Is the project and method now defunct? Are there plans for the future in this area?

You have all the information any of us has now, Eric.
Well, rats!

Thanks anyway, Ellen!

Try adding the alternate spelling to one of the surname fields. This list does not update immediately usually about 24 hours before you will see the results.
