Hi Judson,

Just saw your query on my feed, so I'm answering here rather than in email. What we found when visiting Blankenheim is that the current cemetery is fairly new. The area around the church was clearly the old cemetery but no longer has really any tombstones above ground (not sure whether they were taken away or are themselves buried). As you may know, the usual custom in Europe is to reuse graves due to lack of space but I'm not sure why a new cemetery took the place of the old. The church itself is not in very good repair but I think is still in use.

Some sites relating to the village:

area map: https://staedte-suche.de/7641/karte-Blankenheim-Sachsen-Anhalt --the Mory family arrived in Blankenheim in the 1600s (from where?); Julius Mory was born in Wimmelburg but Charles in Blankenheim, their mother in a village now part of Mansfeld (move map to north a bit); ancestors also from Liedersdorf due south of Blankenheim, Sangerhausen to the west, etc.
