Legacy Family tree do NOT do DNA tests - they just sell genealogy software.

But the answer is NO, Ancestry and My Heritage (Legacy software's parent company) Do NOT do YDNA tests,

You will have to go through FT DNA aka Family Tree DNA for that. And these tests are expensive.

Expensive?  Considering what you get for your investment, I don't think so.  Your investment is for test results, genetic matches across the entire database, as much privacy and anonymity as you want, updated matches, hundreds of DNA projects to choose from (https://www.familytreedna.com/projects.aspx), and they store your sample for something like 25 years.  Pretty awesome really.

Admittedly, it is better if you make your purchase when the kits are on sale.  Also, if you use this link to make your purchase, WikiTree gets a small referral gratuity.  That gratuity helps cover WikiTree operating costs.   https://affiliate.familytreedna.com/idevaffiliate.php?id=600

There are several labs that do YDNA, just not Ancestry.com, but FTDNA is clearly the leader in that area these days. I think this is a pretty good overview here: https://www.smarterhobby.com/genealogy/best-dna-test/
Wow, Ben!  Great article!
