A profile manager has the information incorrect plus he has no sources.

Question

He even made up a middle name for the person. If I edit almost all of his information will be replaced. I have evidence and sources.  I know how to do this but should I contact him first or just forget about it. It really bothers me to see such wrong information.

Well said Tannis, I agree it is always better to contact the PM first and site your sources and then if that doesn't work, file an unresponsive PM request.So Don I agree with your concern, if someone contacted me and said one of my profiles was completely out of context with no sources and he/she could correct it and add the applicable sources then I would welcome the change, so like it or not I say let the PM know exactly what is incorrect and why and offer to correct it.

You should contact the profile manager first before editing anything. It may be helpful to include some of the sources you have found.  It's possible that the person is new or does not fully understand the goals of Wikitree.

He's not new. The profile was created 31 May, 2013 and last modified 1 Sept, 2013. No sources for the profile.

It is very likely that profile manager is no longer active. If you attempt a contact and get no response, go ahead and add your sources.

The profile manager is still very active. He was active yesterday.He manages hundreds of profiles and most are unsourced. I am going to contact him. He probably won't like it.

Hi Don,

I know it's exasperating working with unsourced profiles.   However,  contacting the project manager is certainly the way to go.   It might even turn out they've just linked their unsourced person to your family line and it's not even the same person  you're working with.    

All sorts of things will happen,  but sometimes the other WikiTreer will surprise you.  Once,  I was certain I was annoying the dickens out of a profile manager  (we went back and forth, back and forth)  and he actually awarded me a generous genealogist badge.
