Hicks and Boone

1). Our Haplogroup (which determines paternal lineage) does not match any of the other Hicks surnames in the YDNA/Surname project results found online.  The biggest surprise I received this month was in discovering that our DNA ties strongly to the Boone line (Daniel Boone > Squire Boone > George Boone and Mary Maugridge Boone).

2). We are almost 100% European but with trace Native American DNA.  Our older generations maintained that we descend from the Cherokee tribe, but we are at a loss and brick wall with our grt++ grandfather James Lawson Hicks b. 1809 VA (although no record - and we have heard KY, NC or WV possibilities).

Question:  Is there any record of what happened to William Hicks who was an early settler of Boonesborough with Daniel Boone?  Do you have record of any Boone marrying a Hicks?  Is there any historical information that supports Daniel Boone or any other male Boone had children from Native American or Cherokee wives?  Do you know the Haplogroup/YDNA of this particular Boone line?

Any information you can provide to the above would be most helpful.

Thank you.

Speculation is from a Roman soldier - since a large population shares this Haplogroup in Scotland.
