Can anyone explain what the additonal stone might be at the base of Mary's headstone?

The stone in question is shown in the second photo on the profile.  There appears to be no writing or engraving on this stone.

Strictly a guess would be considering the tender age of her death and the DOB of her other two children, it is possible she died giving birth and the other stone could have been a child.  Many of the limestone markers commonly found in that area are notorious for erosion especially when laid as a slab marker.

I see her marriage record at https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:939K-BJS3-MW?i=43&cc=1614804 though have not located a death cert.
